Social Automation

OK... So a lot of my friends do online selling and stuff. Some like to upload pictures of themselves (or their food) every morning... some like to upload pictures of their kids every morning, lunch and dinner. Today i want to teach you guys a tip/ trick for social automation.

IFTTT is a an automation website. IFTTT stands for the ever so famous among programmers phrase "IF THIS THEN THAT". For non programmers/ techies, the statement (if it does not speak for itself) means "IF this happens.. then do this" .

For example :
IF Car Fuel LOW... Turn on LOW FUEL indicator light
or
If CAR FUEL is LOW ... Fuel up car

Now that you conceptually understand IFTTT, why use it for social networking ? How does this help online selling ? well.. there are several of use cases, but lets go down to 4 of the most basics.

1) You have a facebook account and a twitter account but too annoyed to update both.
IFTTT alows the option to automatically update your twitter status everytime you update your facebook status ..
"If facebook status updated then tweet the new status"

2) You simply HAVE to say good morning to the facebook community every morning
IFTTT allows the option to update your facebook status if time conditions are met.
"If 9am then update facebook status to "GOOD MORNING WORLD"

3) you upload so many pictures everyday, but never have the time to back them up
IFTT allows you to backup photos to dropbox everytime you upload pictures somewhere
"If new picture posted to FB, backup to dropbox"

4) you like a football team
IFTTT allows you to have halftime and fulltime triggers that can post to fb or tweet the latest scores!

There are quite a lot of online services that are IFTTT friendly. Triggers (or ifs) from weather and time, to receiving emails and social statuses. And Actions ( or thens) from sending emails and smses... to turning on your lights at home (of course hardware is needed)!
If you are .. selling a house for example, you instead of posting good morning everyday, you can automate a "House for sale" post everyday or even clothes for sale everyday.. or even sending a post that says "come to my new restraunt everyday"

To discover the full power of integration on IFTTT you really have to head over to IFTTT.com yourself, but here is a simple "Everyday at x.xx post this to FB" example
